Freedom today I would have to say would be interpreted as freedom from school or parents; whereas freedom from like the 1700s was more of the freedom from the oppression and control from the British.
We definitely take most of our freedoms for granted nowadays and we often forget that we are extremely fortunate to have the freedoms we have as compared to other countries. The freedoms we have today are also very different than what they had then. Now we are all worried about internet censorship, whereas back then, they were trying to break free from England's tyranicall reign
Lots of freedoms are being limited by the government today like the right to bear arms. The government just isn't what it used to be back when it was first created
Today, freedom is defined in a much broader sense than it was in the 1700's. For instance, in the 1700's it meant freedom from tyrant rule, today it can mean the freedom to information on the internet.
